The ICD-10 Metadata file is produced by the NHS Information Authority and contains all valid ICD codes, their titles, and category titles together with age, gender checks and dagger/asterisk validation data. This is achieved by flagging ICD codes that, for example, only occur in males or females and those codes that normally occur in particular age ranges. The file is in fixed record length format and does not contain entries for three character headings. The ICD-10 Metadata file is free of charge to the NHS, however a licence is required if you are not part of the NHS (see ICD-10 Licensing).
